Plastic Birth
Suli Mann

A visceral, embodied performance that reimagines plastic—not as a symbol of environmental doom, but as a material of transformation. Plastic Birth stages a symbolic rebirth through a polyethylene tunnel, with Mann’s exposed body wrapped in suffocating layers of plastic that evolve into a second skin. As movement and breath struggle against the artificial, the piece confronts our complex relationship with modern materials. It’s a meditation on vulnerability, identity, and the strange intimacy between the synthetic and the organic. The work invites us to ask: What does it mean to be born into a world of excess—and can we find healing within it?
